This picture from the Makelan CD shows the fairlead in front of Sta 82.5

I am now thinking that another (pair of) fairleads need to be installed between stations 45 and 82.5
I just don't see how according to the plans you don't get the rudder cable rubbing on the diagonal members that converge at 70" between those stations

Very nice!

It's on the outside. I redesigned the turtle deck and stringers. I'm only using five stringers and a wood turtle deck but I made my plane is a little fatter and rounder than the Classic. I was able to run the rudder cables on the outside all the way to the back. I put fairleads at Sta 84 and 151

Did you place the fairlead tube in station 82.5 inside or outside of the longeron line? Your picture seems to suggest it is on the outside, but I think the plans show it on the inside.

Murryay
The rod was a great idea.
I got these from ACS: Part# 05-15051 MFR Model# M-035-000 And I think they'll work well.
Here are the 3/4" length of 7/8" tube tack-welded:

I took a string between the rudder pedal and the rudder to figure out the best placement for them, and the middle ones (in station 82.5 / 84) turned out to be much higher than the plans call for. makes for a straighter line to the rudder.

I used a rod to hold it in place. Also helped to align it.

I used the small 90 degree welding magnets from Harborfreight.
