No, not original. Leblond did have one as an option in 1944, but this didn't come with it and finding an original is basically impossible. The one in the pic is a Palmgren I picked up on ebay. Works well enough, but the real issue is the backlash in the compound... you need to take real small passes when "milling" on the lathe so the work doesn't get pushed around. A Bridgeport would be great... but gee.. where would I put it? Lol.

Thanks. That lathe is the best $250.00 I ever spent. 15" swing & 42" between centers. Built Dec. 7, 1944. Feels good to be working with vintage machinery.

Nice pictures. Always fun to look at what the others are doing. I envy your metal lath.

OK campers, so a few months ago I managed to fight my way back into the shop and shake off a multitude of things that have dragged me down over the last few years. Back at it... with pics to prove it :D

Looks purty! I have also been a victim of Delta's "positive bag check system"...... Two weeks later they gave me back my lost bag torn to shreds by "evasive" inspection technics. But, at least nothing was missing and they did not blink an eye when I asked for a new bag. They guy at the just counter went back to a storage area and gave me a new bag. Didn't say a word, no sorry bout that, no thank you, no zippo. I hate airlines. ( Long story for another time)

I would imagine that it would be tough for them to have given you a new engine! Glad to hear the jewelry was not damaged! : )
