I had heard a rumor that Y-150 type motors were used as flap motors on B-17's? Hence, 24v system?

Not a mistake. Y-150 starters are quite rare, in fact this is only the second one I've ever run across.

Do you really want 2,300.00 dollars for that? I had no idea starters were that expensive, or is my computer not showing the decimal point?

Anyone who's planning to use an early O-290 with the direct drive starter in the rear might be interested in this. I have an eclipse Y-150 starter for sale. This is the starter with a 90 degree angle drive so you don't have to put a big dish in the firewall like you do with an E-80 starter. The motor on this one is tagged as 24V, although 12V motors are also available. It needs to be overhauled anyway, it's caked with grease but is all intact. These starters are quite rare you don't run across them very often. $2300 if you're interested.
