Antenna for FL760A

Post by wildhorsesracing »

I am installing a Flightline FL760A com radio in my Hatz and wanted to know what folks did for an antenna. I mounted the radio just below my right elbow and wondered if I can mount an antenna just below the pilot seat.

I mounted mine on the belly panel. I covered 2 bays on the belly with aluminum instead of one at the firewall back to the first cross member. I did this for more fire protection along the belly. I mounted my antenna centered on the rearmost panel. It might have a slight limiting effect when on the ground, but it's right where it needs to be in flight.

Don't remember a brand. It's a standard wire antenna with a bend of around 45 deg. I riveted a 4" dia. piece of .040 aluminum to the belly skin to strengthen the mounting point.
