We're starting to firm up our travel plans for our first trip to Brodhead. We are annual AirVenture attendees/volunteers, but looking for inputs on what specific items we will need for the weekend at Brodhead.

Also wondering about:
What do most do for food?
What about showers/restrooms?
I see that they usually have fuel available for the fly-in weekend, how about for the return trip home?

thanks,
Ryan

No reason to wonder... just ask!
I get there on Friday so here's what I know for Friday and Saturday....
Food: Pancake breakfast on Saturday with rolls and coffee on Sunday. There is a food window that serves sandwiches and chips for lunch on both days. Friday evening is a fish boil and Saturday is a pork chop dinner. Buy your tickets when you get there. All this is put on by the local EAA Chapter. You can also go into town for food if you like. It's pretty easy to catch a ride with someone.
Showers/Restrooms: They have permanant showers and restrooms along with Port-a-lets on the field on a "wait in line" procedure. Pretty nice and the lines aren't long if you time it right.
Fuel: It's available on the weekend before OSH. The fuel system is mainly for the local inhabitants so the only time we can buy it is when the "salesman" is there... and he holds tightly to a specific schedule. No one is there to sell fuel on the way home.
Keep watching the forum. Bill usually posts final details a couple of weeks ahead of time.

Good luck and see you there!

AIRCRAFT FUEL AVAILABILITY

100LL and ethanol free Auto fuel is available at Brodhead. Cash or Check only. Times of operation will be posted at the pumps and in the pavilion. Self-serve 100LL is available at Monroe (KEFT) about 12 miles west.

AIRCRAFT CAMPING

Preferred aircraft camping areas are depicted on the airport diagram. If camping on or near closed runways remember they will reopen late Sunday morning.

DRIVE-IN CAMPING

RVs please use the south entrance. Early arrivals should set-up along the east edge of the airport until the diagonal runways are closed to aircraft operations Thursday evening. There are no electrical hook ups or sanitary dump available for campers or RV’s. Drive-in campers are being asked to use the south entrance to make more room for auto parking. Signage should be in place to guide you to the south driveway. You may camp along the east edge of the field and in the runway turnaround area once it is closed with the yellow X. The diagonal runways will be closed Thursday night or possibly earlier by NOTAM. Additional camping is available on the southwest side by accessing the south driveway and following the road through Hangar Alley. Please do not park, or stop and leave your vehicle in Hangar Alley. Do not drive across runways to access aircraft camping areas. The southwest runway turnaround is also available for camping once closed. All runways will reopen Sunday by noon. Check NOTAM for exact time or watch for the “X” removal crew. Please plan your site accordingly.

The event starts in a bit over a week and this forum seems quiet. So I will attempt a push-start....

I plan to depart the DFW area on Friday morning (22nd) at daybreak in the speedy Cessna 120. Hope to be in Brodhead for dinner. Who else is traveling to this event?
