Fuel tank outer surface corrosion coating

Hi Hatzers,
WHile planning the priming of the wing fuel tank's top surface, the question came, if a corrosion protection of the remaining external surface would be necessessary or even mandatory?
What isthe experience of the community and especially the owners of older well used Hatzes?
