We’re working on serial #279. It was originally started by Mark Storey and he got as far as assembling all the ribs and the center section. When his work was going to relocate him to Mexico, he reluctantly put the project up for sale and when I saw the workmanship, I had to have it. I’d recently finished a Corben Super Ace (see link), and was looking for something a little more conventional. I got as far as making most of the wing fittings, when Jack Pickering approached me with the idea of going partners on the project. Jack had recently finished a stunning RV6-A and was looking for another project. It didn’t take much convincing ( I jumped at the idea) for me to agree.

Jack and I have been working on the project steadily for about a year and a half now, and we’ve accomplished the following.
The upper wings are almost ready for varnish.
The fuselage, engine mount, cabanes, torquetube assembly, horizontal stabilizers, rudder, fin, and landing gear are all welded up.

We bought Crazy Mike’s O-290-3 for our project and it included a bunch of goodies including an aluminum Cub nosebowl, a beautiful wood prop, overhauled accessories that belong in a display case, and an engine mount that didn’t fit our fuselage.

Enough rambling and on to the images…….
